Milas, the city where history, culture and tourism meet, is also an important center in the animal husbandry sector and with it comes an advantageous position regarding the Veterinary Medicine profession. 68% of Muğla is covered by forest and 90% of Turkish pine honey is produced in Muğla. Accordingly, there are almost 1.000.000 beehives in the area.
Due to its 1484 kilometers of coastline Mugla is also a market leader in marine aquaculture. The majority of the aquaculture production capacity is provided by cage fishing in the Güllük bay of Milas. About half of the cattle stock and small ruminants in Muğla are in Milas. Students at our Faculty, which is located in Milas, where livestock production is very active, will have the opportunity to get a modern education and will prepare themselves for the veterinary profession in the best possible way, by finding the opportunity to get hands on experience from day one.
Our faculty was founded in 2017 and education started with 40 students in the 2018-2019 academic year. Undergraduate programs are carried out in 23 departments within 5 divisions: Basic Sciences of Veterinary Medicine, Pre-Clinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Food Hygiene and Technology and Animal Science Departments.
The curriculum of our faculty complies with the standards of the European Association of Veterinary Education Institutions (EAEVE) and the Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Veterinary Education Institutions and Programs (VEDEK). Our students will be provided with internship and training opportunities at universities within the European Union under the Erasmus programs and also in non-European countries according to bilateral agreements.
Students who decide to join our faculty, will learn the profession of Veterinary Medicine with appropriate study and research opportunities and will be able to find scholarships as well as internship opportunities at internationally active companies within the Veterinary sectors in the region. Furthermore, throughout their future career they will have the advantage of being a proud graduate from Milas Veterinary Faculty.
